Supplemental Group Day Habilitation
Supplemental Group Day Habilitation program that helps build social skills for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This program offers a supportive, fun environment where individuals can improve social skills, make friends, develop hobbies and interests, and explore the community - on evenings and weekends when traditional daytime group habilitation programs are closed.
This program is certified by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)
The Gateway Supplemental Group Day Habilitation program is designed to add on to Day Habilitation services and allow individuals to practice their social skills, make friends, and interact in a safe and supportive setting.
During the week, individuals participate in activities designed to promote self-expression, and every week ends with a dance party.
Although limited by the weather in the winter, during spring and summer and fall groups go out to surrounding parks, making sure to take advantage of the natural resources.
On weekends, groups go on community outings to the movies, bowling allies, museums and libraries, practicing community interaction and exploring the resources of our city.
